Most frequently asked questions about our production

How does everything start? Who designs the products?

The creative mind of each product is Magdalena. She decides which prints we use and which rubber band is inserted in which mask. She also determines how many masks are produced per model. The fabrics are printed in Germany or woven in Italy and then processed into finished happyMasks by our producers in Hungary and Croatia.

Where do the fabrics come from and what is important to you when choosing them?

We purchase the fabrics from our fabric suppliers, from whom we also buy the fabrics for our premium collection VON&ZU. For our happyMasks we make sure to use natural materials that are free of harmful substances. It is important to us to maintain long term relationships with our suppliers even in times of crisis and to support our partners especially now.

Where are the happyMasks sewn?

We sew our masks exclusively in Europe at our partners in Hungary and Croatia. These are owner-managed family businesses and together we enjoy a long and good business relationship.

Why not in Germany?

In the beginning we sewed all happyMasks in our small manufactory in Gemünden am Main. However, the demand very quickly exceeded our capacities and therefore we decided to outsource the majority of our mask production to our partners in Eastern Europe. In these companies there is a much greater expertise in terms of speed and quantity.

Who are your producers and how did you choose them?

Our producers are long-standing partners of our manufactory. They are familiar with our quality standards and know what is important to us. We are in close contact with our producers and visit them regularly on site, because it gives us a better impression and understanding of working methods or occurring problems.

The selection of our suppliers is usually based on recommendations. After the end of a production it may happen that a cooperation ends. This gap must then be filled again. In such cases I like to ask my contacts in the fashion industry if they can recommend someone. In this way I don't buy a pig in a poke, but have a first impression thanks to the experience of someone else.
